Llys Deudraeth

Deudraeth Cyf is a community based, not-for-profit organisation and our work involves regeneration activities in Penrhyndeudraeth and adjacent towns.   We were established as a registered company in July 2000 following the success of projects undertaken by volunteers.  These included projects such as distributing PCs to local inhabitants in order to stimulate the use of technology by businesses and individuals.

The company now operates with a Board of Directors drawn from the local community (several of whom were previously volunteer workers). The company employs staff from the local area.

We manage and develop a number of projects, especially within the fields of Information Technology including web communications, data analysis programmes and customer relationship managment systems.  We also run a large number of IT training courses throughout Gwynedd aimed at beginners with the emphasis on encouraging the use of the internet, email and web communication technologies in rural and isolated communities.

In 2002 we completed the renovation of Llys Deudraeth which now houses the town library, the BBC's studio for the area, and a number of offices for business use.   In 2003, when no other fast internet options were available, we invested substantially in developing a community wireless broadband network. In the same year we commenced IT training and opened our training suite in Llys Deudraeth.

In 2006 we completed the development of Parc y Mileniwm; a £800,000 development that transformed a wet and desolate 8 acre area in to a recreational resource that will support wildlife. The company's commercial activities create revenues that are re-invested in to local developments. Wherever possible, we match-fund these contributions in order to lever in greater investment.

If you are not already making use of our services, please do so soon. You can be reassured that you are both getting a great service and that any 'profits' are reinvested in local projects.
